Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
In this action-packed 30-minute class, we’ll explore ballet and creative movement with Frozen themed music and dances! At the start of each class we’ll say a quick hello so we can get to know each other. Then we’ll warm-up our bodies and learn ballet basics (1st position, 2nd position, plie, tendu, passe, chasse, arabesque, pique & pas de chat). Each week we’ll engage in a creative movement game or quick socialization activity to help keep class varied and social. Activities include playing Follow the Leader, pretending to be animals, or acting like different characters- all with a Frozen themed twist! We’ll spend a good portion of the class learning a short ballet dance to the Frozen Song of the Day. Each week the Frozen Song of the Day changes- as will the featured music and ballet dance (please see list below). At the end of each class, we’ll make sure to finish with a princess curtsey or bow, and wrap up with a quick sharing time where students can talk about Frozen (or share something else that makes them smile) before saying goodbye to all our new friends!

In class I use a mix of Frozen music that fits with the Frozen Song of the Day and standard preschool ballet music. As an ongoing class, no prior knowledge is required and you are welcome to start and stop your subscription at any time. Dances will not be continued or built upon from week to week- the Frozen Song of the Day, themed music, and special dance change each week! In order to support motor development and ballet foundations, our ballet skills practice will remain similar from week to week. This repetition is intentional, as repeating foundational movements is an excellent way for young dancers to learn ballet. For this same reason, if you’re student enjoyed one of my one-time classes or camps with a similar theme, I still highly recommend they attend the same theme again! Building familiarity with the steps- especially in a dance they’ve done before- is a tried and true way to learn dance skills and support motor development.

Below is the Frozen Song of the Day list which each class will be themed based upon for the Summer 2024 Season:

Week of June 3rd: “When I Am Older”
Week of June 10th: “Let It Go"
Week of June 17th: “For the First Time in Forever”
Week of June 24th: NO CLASS-MISS LEXA ON VACATION :)
Week of July 1st: “In Summer”
Week of July 8th: “Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?”
Week of July 15th: “Fixer Upper”
Week of July 22nd: “Into the Unknown"
Learning Goals

Parental Guidance
Dance is a physical activity which should always be done with parental supervision. Dancing on a flat and uncluttered floor space is encouraged to help eliminate potential hazards. Having water close by and taking breaks when needed is also encouraged. If the child has a physical limitation or medical condition which is aggravated by movement, please consult a doctor before participating.
Supply List
Dancers are welcome to wear a leotard and tights, their favorite dress-up costume, or moveable street clothes. Ballet shoes are recommended but bare feet are also welcomed! A distraction-free space where you can freely and safely move is also recommended, as well as having a water bottle close by.
