Part 1 of 4 This is the first 4 week section of a 4 part course. In this class, learners will explore self-directed learning and educational planning, led by experienced teacher Johnathan, who has over 20 years of experience teaching a wide range of topics to students from ages 8 to 80. Johnathan's background in martial arts, circus performing, financial management, and computer science brings a unique perspective to this course. Each week, students will engage with a different topic related to self-directed learning and educational planning, with sessions on setting goals, managing time, study strategies, note-taking, and more. The class is designed to be flexible and student-led, with pre-recorded videos and homework assignments that can be completed at any time, and individualized feedback on progress. Through this course, students will learn how to take ownership of their own learning and develop the skills needed for academic success, including self-reflection, organization, and self-motivation. By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in self-directed learning and be better equipped to plan and achieve their educational goals. Weekly Topics: Week 1: Setting Goals and Identifying Priorities Week 2: Time Management and Scheduling Week 3: Self-Reflection and Self-Assessment Week 4: Study Strategies and Learning Styles The flexible schedule (Recorded Flex Class) allows your learners to watch the pre-recorded videos and do them at a time that is FUN for them! You can also spend extra time on the topics your child is most interested in. Since this is a flex class with no live meetings, students can log in at a convenient time to complete the week's lesson. We will be going through each week as a group and I will post the lesson weekly (depending on which day you started). The videos will contain the information required to give students a good understanding of each topic and each one will include homework for the students to undertake during the week, as part of a project. After watching each video and completing the homework assignments, students will be provided with feedback and the specific next steps on how to improve or adapt. Time frame for the Week: Mondays - The teacher will post the information needed for the week. Students can submit questions. Tuesdays - Wednesday - The teacher can answer any questions pertaining to the topic of the week. The students will need to complete any homework assignments and answer any questions in the discussion. Thursday - Students need to have all tasks completed and uploaded in the classroom for teacher feedback and discussion. Students will discuss it among themselves. Friday - The teacher will provide feedback to the class and individual students. Saturday - Sunday - The teacher will be available to answer any questions that the students may have for the week or the next week. Please note: This course requires no prior experience. *For parents/families who feel their child would benefit from this course, but their budget does not allow for it, I do offer a number of discounts for families of lower income. Please message me with the course, dates and times you are interested in to learn more about the discounts I might be able to offer.
