This class is designed to help high school learners prepare for their life after high school. In this 4-week flex online course, learners will be introduced to resume and cover letter writing, steps to applying for jobs and scheduling interviews, how to prepare for an interview. Learners are not required to have any experience with writing resumes and cover letters or applying for a job. Instead of live meetings, this class will be presented in weekly videos uploaded to the classroom by Noon on the day of the week that starts the class (For example, if class is weekly on Monday's, then each weekly video will be added by Noon on Monday). Depending on the size and length of the video, each weekly video may be uploaded in the format of multiple videos. Week 1: Resume and Cover Letter Writing Learners will be introduced to various resume and cover letter formats based on what you are applying for. Microsoft Word will be used in a Screen Share for learners to follow along with the video. Week 2: Jobs and Interviews Learners will be introduced on how to search for and apply to jobs, how to schedule interviews, and how to prepare for interviews. Microsoft PowerPoint will be used in a Screen Share for learners to follow along with the video. Week 3: More Interview Basics Learners will be introduced to sample interview questions, tips for answering difficult questions, and what to expect after an interview. Information will be shared on what happens next if you're hired or if it's time to keep searching. Microsoft PowerPoint will be used in a Screen Share for learners to follow along with the video. Week 4: Household and Automotive Learners will be introduced to the basics of laundry, checking tire pressure and adding air, and basics of budgeting. How to budget basics will be shared using Microsoft Excel on Screen Share for learners to follow along with the video.

Parental Guidance
Parents, we will be covering a lot of life skills areas including resume and cover letter writing, applying for and preparing for jobs, and other basic skills. Learners will be learning important life skills that will help them to develop into independent people.

During my senior year of high school, I mentored incoming freshmen. During my undergraduate college experience, I served as an Ambassador to prospective students and Orientation Leader to incoming freshmen & international students. I was a peer resource to those students throughout the school year. I have 8 years of experience working with high school learners with hearing loss in public and charter schools. A majority of the focus with the high school learners has been on learning about their rights as a person with a disability, how to write their resumes, how to find jobs and apply for them, and other life skills.
