Description
Class Experience
Learners will learn how to write a cover letter, format their resume, prepare for an interview, and other basic skills.
During my senior year of high school, I mentored incoming freshmen. During my undergraduate college experience, I served as an Ambassador to prospective students and Orientation Leader to incoming freshmen & international students. I was a peer resource to those students throughout the school year. I have 8 years of experience working with high school learners with hearing loss in public and charter schools. A majority of the focus with the high school learners has been on learning about their rights as a person with a disability, how to write their resumes, how to find jobs and apply for them, and other life skills.
No homework will be officially assigned, but learners are encouraged to share their sample resumes and cover letters directly to the teacher for specific feedback.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parents, we will be covering a lot of life skills areas including resume and cover letter writing, applying for and preparing for jobs, and other basic skills. Learners will be learning important life skills that will help them to develop into independent people.
