US Grade 1
Join us each week to learn and practice 10 new spelling words in a variety of ways. The first day (Mon or Tues) we will read through the words together and find the pattern. Then we will practice writing on the provided worksheet, in shaving cream or rice, with markers, play doh, etc. The second day (Wed or Thurs) we'll read through them again and make sentences using the words. Learners will be encouraged to try spelling the new words on their own, but can always get help if needed. Along the way we'll also talk about capital letters and punctuation. Learners should already know their letters and sounds and be able to write independently. If materials are needed for class you will know the Sunday before class starts. As an ongoing class, learners can join at any time as we will strictly focus on the pattern for the week. If your learner is outside the age range, but you think it would be a good fit please reach out or give it a try! I love a highly interactive class and rarely mute students, but if there is background noise I may need to. It would be a good idea to teach your learner how to mute/unmute themselves in case the need arises. Students will be expected to raise hands and respect whoever is speaking as if they were in a traditional classroom setting. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I'm Kara! As a former 1st Grade teacher, preschool teacher, and current stay at home mom to 3 (ages 12, 9, and 5) I know there is nothing more important than learning through play. In my classes we'll have fun, be challenged, and learn from each other. I have also taught over 1,000 English classes online and am very comfortable with the online teaching dynamic. I have a heart for young learners and sparking imagination. When I'm not teaching I love to cook, read, run, and travel. I can't wait to see you in my "classroom"!
