Description
Class Experience
Fluency is the ability to read a text accurately, quickly, and with expression. Reading fluency is important because it provides a bridge between word recognition and comprehension. Fluency is also very important for motivation! In this flex tutoring session, there will be a short video (6-10 minutes). I will read a passage to the students without expression. Next, I will read the passage with fluency and expression. Last, I will model how to find the answers to comprehension questions in...
Students will grow in their reading fluency by practicing reading and comprehension.
I am a certified reading teacher in the state of NC. I have over 13 years of experience and a Master of Education with a Concentration in Reading. I have taught online, and in the public and charter school systems.
Students will answer the comprehension questions.
Students will receive a 2-page handout each week.
Students will record their words per minute.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents may need to assist learners with setting up a timer for 1 minute.
