In this 4 week flex class, students will learn to read with speed, accuracy, and proper expression.
Class experience
Fluency is the ability to read a text accurately, quickly, and with expression. Reading fluency is important because it provides a bridge between word recognition and comprehension. Fluency is also very important for motivation! In this flex tutoring session, there will be a short video (6-10 minutes). I will read a passage to the students without expression. Students will grow in their reading fluency by practicing reading and comprehension.
I am a certified reading teacher in the state of NC. I have over 13 years of experience and a Master of Education with a Concentration in Reading. I have taught online, and in the public and charter school systems.
Students will receive a 2-page handout each week.
Parents may need to assist learners with setting up a timer for 1 minute.
