In this single meeting class for early elementary students, we will meet the world-famous artist Vincent Van Gogh and learn about his life. Students will examine his art, and practice visual intake and verbal expression through describing the art and their thoughts about it. Students will learn about the art style Post-Impressionism. We will complete this lesson by creating our own works of art tissue paper, glue and marker. The project will be begun in class and finished after class if...
Learners will gain knowledge of art styles, art history, and art critique. They will practice art observation and practice creative skills as we create our own unique works of art.
I am offering this class because I love art and have taught painting classes in the past to kids at a local community center.
Students may want additional time to complete their art work after class.
1 file available upon enrollmentWe will create an artwork using van Gogh’s “Vase with 12 Sunflowers”. Please print a copy of the coloring sheet attached to bring to class. Learners will need crayons, glue and tissue paper in orange, brown, yellow and green tones. The print out is sourced with permission from Just Color.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
In this class, I have only chosen images that focus on the art style Post-Impressionism and are appropriate for all ages. I have not included any images containing nudity, depicting war, violence or controversial subject matter.
