US Grade 4 - 7
We will start class by analyzing the definition of volume and the definition of prisms. Students will then be presented with the formula used to find the volume of prisms. We will discuss what each part of the formula represents and how to find it on a prism. We will then use a table to organize our data. I will solve a problem while explaining each step. Students will then work on some guided practice examples. Once students have worked through the guided examples they will work on a few independent practice examples while I check for comprehension. Students will have the opportunity to model what they have learned by solving the problems using the steps presented.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to find the volume of prisms by using the volume of prisms formula.
