We will be looking at gowns from 1930-1960 and designing such classics. We will then redesign on paper these amazing gowns into something that can be worn today. These iconic time periods allow us a sneak into the past and allow us to see how designers have been inspired by these great times. Week 1. Looking at 1930s gowns--this wonderful time period where WWII changed all our lives. We look at how rationing effected those amazing gowns. Week 2. Flapper dresses-- the thrill of designing a flapper dress and then creating one with a modern twist. Week 3. 1950 gowns-- how they can be changed and what we can learn about this time period. How this time period is still loved today and why. Week 4. 1960 gowns-- not just flower power but creative designs that allow us to see how individuals changed our fashion industry. *Subject to change

Teacher expertise and credentials
Why me? I have loved fashion since I was very young. One of my designs was even sold in London. My Nan, mum, sister, and daughters have all been involved in being very creative. You could say that sewing is in my blood and threaded through my veins. I love encouraging students to love fashion, to think for themselves, and be creative.
