Class Experience This ongoing fashion design club. Each week we will explore different types of fashion design, from high fashion, street wear, costumes, retro fashion and more! Learners will explore drawing different fashion poses -- through step by step instruction we will use pencil to draw figures using proportion techniques.. We will explore and discuss fashion styles. Learners will work on their drawing and watercolor techniques. This ongoing class is drawing and painting based, students are welcome to bring other drawing and color materials to use as well. Learners are encouraged to think outside of the box and explore new ways of making their ideas come to life. Here are some examples of fashion themes. Our themes are decided weekly by our members and can explore anything from favorite bands, designers, to costumes from movies and shows. Week Theme: High Fashion Week -- Learners will have a look at high fashion designs and poses. We will draw a figure in a high fashion pose and then students will design an outfit ready for the runway! This week’s material list: watercolor paper, watercolor paint, pencil, eraser, brushes — any mixed media materials are welcome Week Theme: Inspired by this! -- Learners will explore fashion designers who created outfits inspired by nature, technology or food. Together we will draw a figure using proportion technique and then students will have a minute to grab an object and use it as inspiration for their outfit design. This week’s material list: watercolor paper, watercolor paint, pencil, eraser, brushes — any mixed media materials are welcome Week : Retro Fashion -- This week learners will explore retro fashion from the 80's, 90's and early 2000's. Together we will draw a figure using proportion technique and then students will have a chance to draw their own retro inspired outfit. This week’s material list: watercolor paper, watercolor paint, pencil, eraser, brushes — any mixed media materials are welcome Week : Costume Design -- This week learners will explore costume design and the different genre's of costume design in theatre, film and TV. Together we will draw a figure using proportion technique and then students will have a chance to draw their own costume design. This week’s material list: watercolor paper, watercolor paint, pencil, eraser, brushes — any mixed media materials are welcome LATE ARRIVALS: Please note, learners who are late by 15 minutes or more will not be let into the classroom. The recording will be available once the class has finished and learners are welcome to watch in their own time. This class welcomes new students, and is very excited to catch up with the creations of those learners who have previously taken any of Teacher Char's Fashion Classes.
Learning Goals
Students will add dynamic designs to their fashion portfolios, explore proportion and drawing techniques.

Material list: Sketchbook / drawing paper, pencil (drawing pencils welcome), eraser and something color with (colored pencils, markers, pastels etc)

Hello Parents and Students! My name is Charlene and I am a teacher here at Outschool! I have a Masters in Arts Management and a Bachelor of Arts in both Fine Arts and History. I have been teaching for 10 years in schools and art galleries to children aged 3 - 17 in ESL, Drama, and Art. I am certified in Art Therapy.
In my classes we explore drawing, painting and mixed media techniques in addition to learning the history of art and fashion. I work with each student individually -- no matter the class size, together we consider their creative style and celebrate their individual artistic mark.
