US Grade Kindergarten - 1
In this phonics class, the phonics rule of "Bossy E" will be taught through words with the long E and U sounds. We will review what vowels and consonants are, what short and long vowel sounds are, and then focus on reading words with the vowels E and U. This class will be teacher led, using slides, choral reading as a class, and one on one opportunity for students to explore the topic. Students will play a group game to assess their comprehension. I believe that when students are given the opportunity to explore and explain a subject in a fun and engaging way, they will be able to retain the information easier. Requirements: for students that are beginning readers that know the alphabet and understand the difference between vowels and consonants.

I am Mrs V, as my classroom students call me. I teach phonics, grammar, science, math, and music classes. I am licensed to teach kindergarten through 6th grade. I also have a minor in music. I taught preschool for 6 years and I did student teaching in kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, and 6th grades. I have worked part time in the public school system for the last 5 years. I homeschool my two youngest children and enjoy finding fun new ways to teach things. I also teach ESL classes online. I believe that including the student's interests into the lesson engages the learning and makes learning fun and more easily attainable. Fun, hands on activities and games provide an engaging learning environment. My hobbies are animals (I live on a small farm), music (I minored in music), reading and crocheting.
