Welcome to Esports: Minecraft STEM Battles, an exciting and innovative program designed for students in grades 4-10. This Minecraft esports program offers a new and unique way to challenge players by tasking them with analyzing and solving complex science and engineering problems using Minecraft to demonstrate their solutions. This course is similar to LEGO First Robotics and other academic competition clubs, and it is a great opportunity for students to develop skills in STEM, coding, game design, and teamwork. The class is structured as a student-centered learning environment with collaborative projects, where students will learn to be members of a team and solve STEM and academic problems. The program has an 1-week duration, with 3 hour-long class meetings held five days a week. Throughout the program, students will explore organizational strategies for competing against other teams, solve competitive building problems, and use game design, coding, and engineering to solve problems. Our teaching style is based on interactive learning, where students will have plenty of opportunities to interact with the instructor and each other. Each session will include lectures, video clips, discussion, and games. Our program is designed to teach students skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking. These skills will be taught in a fun and engaging way, with a focus on practical applications and hands-on experience. Here is an overview of what will be taught each day: Day 1: Learning to work as a team and collaborate effectively Day 2: Exploring different coding concepts and game design principles Day 3: Communication and teamwork, understanding the importance of communication in Minecraft and with your team and developing effective teamwork skills. Day 4: Continue building techniques and skill needed for sportsmanship. Using coding and engineering to solve complex problems. Day 5: Analyzing and solving STEM problems. Testing and refining competitive solutions. Final tournament and project showcase No prior experience or knowledge is required to enroll in this course. Students will need access to a computer or tablet with Minecraft Education Edition installed. We will provide you with an account. Our instructor will provide guidance and support throughout the program to ensure that all students have the necessary skills to succeed. In conclusion, Esports: Minecraft STEM Battles is a unique and engaging program that offers students the opportunity to develop skills in STEM, coding, game design, and teamwork. Our student-centered learning environment and collaborative projects will ensure that students have fun while learning and developing essential skills. We look forward to welcoming your child to our program and helping them develop their full potential.
