Soar Into Grades 3-4 Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary AND Grammar (Summer CAMP)

Welcome!!  This is a 6 week Multi-Day summer course that will cover the key concepts in the 3rd & 4th grade reading and language arts common core state standards.  This class is perfect for students who are either going into 4th grade and want the advantage of being taught the key concepts before beginning the class, for students who want to keep their 4th grade skills sharp, or for students who need a bit of remediation before entering 5th grade.  

During this 6 week course we will learn concepts in an interactive format.  
This is a comprehensive class designed to help students improve their reading skills, understand key literary elements, and prepare for standardized testing in schoo and prepare for grades 3 & 4l.
This is a full Reading and Language Arts curriculum course taught by a certified teacher and Reading Specialist using the Science of Teaching Reading principles.  

This class is a great fit because students read a different story in each session. For every story, students engage in discussions and answer questions on:
	•	Reading comprehension
	•	Vocabulary
	•	Theme
	•	Main idea and details
	•	Figurative language (including similes, metaphors, personification, and hyperbole)
	•	Poetic elements
	•	Inference
	•	And mor

This class is different from others because it follows a curriculum and is academically focused while being engaging and motivating for all learners.  The curriculum is cross-curricular so science and social studies topics will be also be covered. We will also include cross-curriculum escape rooms to make learning fun.


I expect each student to come to class with a pencil and notebook, ready to take notes and ready to participate.  I also expect students to give a good attempt on the worksheets that are given out each class, so I can check for understanding.  During most classes we won’t use a calculator, however, if your learner requires accommodations where one is helpful, please message me, and they can use one during the lessons.
