Class Experience

It's great to make friends with other kids who share your interests! This is a sharing time for kids who love music. In this class, you will have a chance to share a song you are learning or you have composed, and listen while other kids share their songs. We will actively practice being a positive creative learning community, supporting each other by listening and showing kindness. After we share songs, we can share other interests and play games. This is a fun social time for kids who love music and want to make positive connections with other kids!

In each class, we will:
- give each student an opportunity to share a song they are learning or have composed, if they want to (not required)
- give each student an opportunity to share about other interests, if they want to
- play games if we have time

Session topics will be identical each week: students sharing their songs, followed by social connection time.

Special notes:
- Any music shared in class must be family-friendly and not offensive to other students. If you have questions about what might be appropriate, please feel free to reach out prior to class, with enough time that I can thoughtfully review the song.
- Students may come prepared to share a song they are learning or have composed. If you want to share a song, you will need to have all of the materials to share the song ready at the beginning of the class. If you need assistance in getting ready, please feel free to message the teacher at least the day before the class, to give enough time to prepare.

About me:
In 30 years of teaching music in private lessons and public elementary schools, the most incredible moments for me have occurred when students enjoyed learning the music and felt positive personal connections. This is what I hope to bring to the many young people learning from home or hoping for more meaningful music experiences. I am positive, upbeat, and relaxed, and invite students to join in as they feel comfortable. If you are looking for a connective, nurturing, musical environment for your child or children, I hope you'll join us!
