Dungeons & Dragons is a highly social and collaborative tabletop role-playing game where learners create unique characters and work together to build a story filled with drama, intrigue and adventure. Join us as we play The Darkest Night, a fun Christmas themed adventure set in the village of Iceville! Each year the people of Iceville light up the darkness with candles, song and the exchange of gifts during Kringlefest. However this year's festivities are in threat as once again the forces of the darkness are returning to take away the joy and light! This is a perfect mini adventure for beginners, each day your learner will join for a session to progress the story and save themselves and the people of Iceville. Class Structure: CLASS 1: MONDAY - Introductions & Character Creation Introductions - Learners will greet each other, discuss their experience with Dungeons & Dragons or similar games, and describe their hopes for the week. Rules - As a group, learners will create a set of rules to follow through the week. These will include how to communicate with each others, what type of language is allowed, what are postive ways to play the game, and how to show respect for your fellow learners. Iceville - Learners will be discover the town of Iceville, it's history and the types of people and creature that lives in this remote village far in the North. Character Creation - Learners will then create their characters ready to use for the adventure starting the next day. CLASS 2: TUESDAY - Snowmen In The Night Classes 2-4 will feature gameplay of the adventure with short greetings and goodbyes at the beginning and end of class. Adventure - Our group begins their adventure in the village of Iceville but instead of the smiling faces usually seen, the streets are empty except for creatures of snow that begin to grow from the ground and on top of buildings! CLASS 3: WEDNESDAY - The Toys Are Against Us Adventure - Our adventurers arrive at Kringle's warehouse but something is wrong, Kringle's toy soldiers immediately fight back! They have been enchanted by some evil force and have been turned instead into a toy army! CLASS 4: THURSDAY - Krampus, Lord of the Dark Adventure - Our final enemy is revealed, Krampus! This evil horned creature is determind to spoil the fun and ruin the coming festival. Can our adventurers take him down to save the day! CLASS 5: FRIDAY - Story Conclusion & Week Reflection Story Conclusion - In this final session we will complete any remaining parts of the story. Favorite Moments - Learners will collectively create a Top 5 (or more) favorite moments from the adventure list! Learning Outcomes - Students will reflect on their weekly learning, recognising skills they developed and ways they could improve. Goodbyes - Finally learners will describe their next plans for the holidays and say their goodbyes and well wishes with their new groups of friends! Requirements: Students will require access to a computer. Alongside the Zoom meeting, we will be using the websites D&D Beyond (https://www.dndbeyond.com/) and Owlbear Rodeo (https://www.owlbear.rodeo/).
