In this weekly club, prepare for an expedition to the haunting land of Barovia, ruled by the vampire lord Strahd. The Curse of Strahd is a wonderfully atmospheric adventure to captivate both new and seasoned adventurers.

Welcome to the gothic horror realm of Barovia in this Curse of Strahd campaign! In this class, we'll journey through a land shrouded in mist and ruled by the malevolent vampire lord, Strahd von Zarovich. This adventure is steeped in horror that will be appropriately themed for young learners providing a uniquely haunting Dungeons & Dragons experience.

This is a perfect entry campaign for horror fans, and players who enjoy the roleplay aspects of the game.

This class is an on-going adventure, students are free to join at any time, they will be integrated at the beginning of their first session. Sessions will be learner-directed based on story and character choices the learners make.

To participate in this adventure, students will require access to a computer. Alongside our Zoom meetings, we will be using the websites D&D Beyond (https://www.dndbeyond.com/) and Owlbear Rodeo (https://www.owlbear.rodeo/) to enhance our gameplay.

Learning Goals

Create a shared list of classroom rules.
Work as a team to analyse and solve problems.
Improve skills in communication and cooperation.
Use a combination of logic, strategy and creativity to complete tasks.
Develop skills in storytelling, decision making, invention, research, calculations, negotiation, role-play, and active spatial visualization.
Practice public speaking skills by retelling the events of the previous week.

Parental Guidance

This class features gameplay that includes fighting and killing monsters, so parents should be aware that the story and themes will include these elements. We also use the websites D&D Beyond (https://www.dndbeyond.com/) and Owlbear Rodeo (https://www.owlbear.rodeo/). D&D Beyond is an officially licensed game by the Wizards of the Coast who creates the game Dungeons & Dragons. We use the website exclusively for making the characters learners will use and them making a group so players can see each others characters. However parents should note that the website also features an online forum for members of the public. Therefore content cannot be fully censored. Owlbear Rodeo is a website that provides maps to use while playing.
