This class introduces students to Japanese art and culture as they explore works in various museums’ collection. Students will participate in a short discussion about Japanese art. We will look and discuss why these works were created. We will also look at the process of these works of art and the materials that were used. We will also view a traditional Japanese tea house. Students will create their own fan using the materials they provide. I will be creating along with the students. This is a step-by-step art class. I will be creating with the students and giving instructions.

Supply List
I try to keep cost at a minimum. I will be flexible with items and hope that you have some of them at home. Please have extra paper or a sketch book for the beginning drawings. Paper and something for color such as a box of crayons, markers, or colored pencils. I can show you how to complete the project using a variety of materials. No paint please because we will be folding the paper.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
