Students from high school on learn about their interests, abilities, backgrounds and values. This saves money on unnecessary degrees or education because it gives the student direction and a path to success.

US Grade 9 - 12
Beginner Level
Students will explore the difference between a job and a career. They will learn about others' career journeys and the mistakes and challenges they had along the way. The book, "Career Journeys from the Ground Up: Discover Your Own Path," will be mailed to each student that enrolls and is part of the enrollment fee. My learning style is interactive, personal and hands-on. There will be activities and ongoing discussions that will help students learn more about their dreams, interests and abilities. The class is open and very personal. It is the goal of this class to offer students a beginning look at how people select their careers and what opportunities they can take advantage of.

3 Lessons

Intro of participants, instructor and book (every participant receives a book)
What is a career? How is it different from a job? Let's get to know each other and the interests we already have. 90 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
Career Journeys from the Ground Up: Discover Your Own Path
What can we learn from others' career journeys? Present one book participant and what you felt you learned from their journey. What mistakes had to be overcome? What would you do differently? 90 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
Hands-on activities

This class is for all learning levels. Everyone deserves the opportunity to explore their interests, likes, personality and what careers may be suited for them.
Parental Guidance
My book contains honest interviews of individuals ages 27-85. Their stories are personal and factual.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been a career counselor since 1985. I have owned 2 career counseling businesses. I have worked in non-profits, and have been the educational coordinator for a workforce development organization that worked with the 124 high schools here on Long Island. I have done many career fairs, career conferences, library workshops and presentations about this important topic. I was also trained to run career academies by the Ford Motor Company Fund.
