Class Experience

For this one time class, students will learn to read decimals up to the thousandths place. Previous knowledge of reading whole numbers, tenths, and hundredths place value is preferred for this class, but I will review tenths and hundredths briefly and then proceed into the thousandths. Learners will be able to practice their new skills using a game format.

I expect students to try their best during class and to be polite to their fellow students and teacher. Students should enter class on mute and with their video on. I also expect students to keep their video on throughout the class so that I can see their work and gauge facial expressions for frustration. Students should be able to take notes and follow my instructions. Taking turns and being a good sport is always a wonderful thing when playing a game. Please be kind and encouraging whether you are winning or losing.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Parents! I am a retired Special Education Teacher with over 30 years of experience teaching grades 3-8 in all subject areas. I am dual certified with a BS/MS in Special and Regular Education in preschool through grade 12. At OutSchool, I offer educational classes in math that are engaging and geared toward the students in the class. I usually work with grade 3-7 students and provide a variety of math classes from private tutoring to group classes and camps on multiple skills, as well as single skill classes such as order of operations, algebra, integers, liquid measurement, and many many more! If necessary, I also modify my classes by scaffolding material for the different levels of students I may have. I am my students' biggest cheerleader and use humor to take the fear out of learning material that may be difficult. Everyone will learn!
I love teaching and want my students to enjoy learning. In addition to teaching, I love gardening and reading, my 2 adult children, Gina and Ryan, and my crazy dog, Luna. She just may show up from time to time in my classroom! I also own my own business working with parents and children on ways to manage stress, whether it's school-related or life-related, and I teach Reiki to adults.
