Death is inevitable, and sooner or later, everyone faces the Grim Reaper. But death by ORANGE PEEL? No thanks! This class takes a humorous, lighthearted 'stab' at the topic of death. This course is challenging, as it is designed for high ability learners who typically perform beyond grade-level expectations. Please note that I don't require any 'proof' of your student's abilities in order to enroll. If you believe your student is up for the challenge, I encourage him or her to try it out! In this competition-themed class, learners will act as panel judges, and rank various historical deaths with their judges' paddles. Be prepared to laugh, roll your eyes, or jaw-drop at some truly outrageous- and completely true!- deaths that occurred throughout history. Learners will explore various death stories through a slideshow presentation, will rank the death on a scale of 1-10, and will discuss their thoughts about each story. By the end of class, we will award our 'winner' of the coveted 'dumbest death' award!
Other Details
Parental Guidance
The content of this class includes a presentation of historical deaths. Students under age ten are not eligible to enroll, and students who are squeamish or who perseverate on death-related issues should not enroll in the course. Deaths discussed include a variety of accidental deaths that some may consider 'gruesome' (such as decapitations), though no visuals or vivid descriptors will be used. The content of this class is intended to be humorous and entertaining, and also gives several real-world examples of 'irony'. This class will not offer a serious discussion about death and will not be therapeutic in nature.
