US Grade 5 - 8
In this three day workshop for young writers, I will be going over a bunch of tips and tricks as to how to begin, continue, and complete a story. Often, students have big ideas for a story, but are discouraged from writing because it's hard to decide where to start. This is a three day class with the goal of crafting a very strong outline for a short (or long!) story. What students learn in this workshop can be used at any time in their future endeavors with writing. I will specifically be discussing how to begin, continue, and conclude a story by using a main character as the reference point. I encourage anyone who is passionate about writing to attend! Students are welcome to send the story they create as a result of this workshop to me anytime.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to confidently and coherently begin, continue, and end a story, especially by using a focal character. By the end of the three days, students should have a rough outline of their entire story, which they can then use in the future to write a full story. What students learn in this class can be used in the future as well.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from The Ohio State University
Hello! I'm excited to be sharing my knowledge with you on this platform! I'm a language and acting teacher whose primary passion as an educator is making the subject matter accessible and enjoyable. I've taught almost all ages over the course of my career, from kindergarteners to adults to senior citizens. For me, it's always fun and fulfilling to be able to share my knowledge with learners and watch that "click" in their minds when they have truly acquired a new skill or learned something new. To accomplish this, I make sure students feel heard, busy, and reassured. In my classes, students should expect to immediately put to use what we're learning and, in turn, get immediate feedback. I also love learning from my students, and also love hearing what they have to tell me, so my classes also involve a "flipped classroom" - that is, students will come to class prepared to tell me what they have learned from one class to the next.
I'm also quite a nerd. I'm a big fan of video games and novels, and I'm not afraid to be proud of that! I always welcome any student to also share their hobbies and interests in class - it can add to the experience!
