This class is intended as an introductory course. The goal of the class is to help learners become familiar with and understand the main aspects of contracts. In their day-to-day experiences as adults, learners will have many opportunities in which contracts will play a major role. Increasing their comfort with the terms and mechanics of contracts will assist them in making prudent business decisions in negotiations, and in identifying situations where further legal assistance is needed. The class will primarily be presented in a lecture format with frequent examples. It will also include case studies to illustrate the various points. Learners will be encouraged to participate and ask questions voluntarily (there will be no forced participation requirement). I will seek to tailor the learning environment to each student as much as possible. If a learner would prefer to watch the video recording of each class and communicate directly with me via text with any questions or comments, that is possible as well. The class content will include: Common business contracts generally. What is required to form a legal contract including: - Offer - Acceptance - Consent - Legality - Consideration - Capacity - Writing - Third Party Beneficiaries - Discharge - Performance - Breach of Contract - Damages - Remedies Please note that I am a licensed attorney, but the content in this class is provided for educational purposes only. The information obtained from this class is not a substitute for legal advice.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Evaluating the classes and resources available to high school age individuals, I realized that there was not a lot available on basics that young adults need to know to be successful in the business world. One of these is contracts. The new gig economy is based on them. Even the old, traditional economy was. I put this course together as an attorney and as a homeschooling mom to give learners basic knowledge they will use in their everyday life.
