This five part class will be an interactive and fun experience for anyone interested in someday owning and operating their own business. If you've got big ideas - this class is for you. • Week 1: During week one we will focus on why small business and entrepreneurship are important. We will also discuss what makes a business successful. We will define key terms and begin the brainstorming process for our own business ideas. Students will be encouraged to be creative and focus on business ideas that are fun and utilize their own skill sets. • Week 2: During week two we will complete a basic SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.) We will talk about internal and external factors that could potentially impact our ideas. Let's find out if our ideas will be successful. • Week 3: In class three we will begin preparing our business plans by defining our mission and vision statements. We will also define and discuss our customers and how we will meet their needs. Students will be encouraged to discuss what will make their businesses unique. • Week 4: In class four we will discuss marketing our business and bringing it to fruition. Learn how to use social media, print ads, and even word of mouth to increase your revenue! • Week 5: In class five we will make budgets and income trackers so students are able to operate their business while being fiscally responsible. Together we'll learn how to calculate break even points and find out how long it will take to reach our financial goals. The class will include lots of discussion amongst students as we compare and contrast our ideas. This course is meant to introduce the basic concepts of creating a business plan to children.
