Class Experience

* Yes this class IS available, as a one-time or ongoing 1:1 class! Click "check availability" to auto-schedule based on my standard availability, or reach out with your desired timeframe, day of the week, and time zone. Last minute sessions may be available - message me! *

In this learner-led, 1:1 class, we can explore any business-related topic. Feel free to reach out in advance to make sure your topic is a good fit for my skills and experience - if it's not on the list below! I'm always open to questions. This is a 1:1, ongoing weekly support session for learners who are interested in one or more of the following topics:
     - Owning or running a business
     - Turning their hobby into a business
     - Publicizing their hobby better through social media marketing
     - Learning about business management
     - Starting a Youtube channel (specifically: niching, how to make money, and where else to market your channel)
     - Sharing about their business or hobby progress and brainstorming with a mentor
     - Learning about the intersection between sustainability and business

Session topics can be arranged in advance via Outschool message at least 24 hour in advance; if I don't hear from you at least 24 hours in advance I'll arrive ready to collaborate and answer questions! These sessions are learner-led, meaning I'll answer questions and be ready to chat. Sessions can cover one or more of the following topics:
     - Pricing (and how to calculate and project profit)
     - Marketing (traditional and social media marketing)
     - Value proposition / elevator pitch / building confidence in yourself and your business "pitch"
     - Set up costs, how to afford them, and how to ask for help
     - Types of businesses that might work for young folks
     - Developing soft skills (public speaking, confidence, self awareness, boundary setting)
     - Financial skills like budgeting your profits, thinking about what to save or spend, etc.

I have experience teaching and working with young entrepreneurs ages 5-18, as well as 12+ years of experience running several different in person and online businesses. My specialties are social media marketing (with a local focus) and helping build businesses through realistic, efficient, energy-saving practices.

Signing up for this class signs up for a weekly subscription; class fees are charged Sunday PST for the upcoming week. If the listed times don't work for your learner, reach out! I would love to find a time that works for both of us.

This is a 60 minute session, if that is too long for your learner, I also have 30 and 40 minute sessions available via my profile.

1:1 session classroom rules:
1) Be respectful! Take turns talking, be respectful during any disagreements, and use the chat only for on-topic discussions.
2) Minimize distractions. No video filters, no backgrounds (except blur). Don't put items close to the camera, unless asked to.
3) If student is disrespectful or distracting, teacher will give them 1-2 verbal notices and then remove them to the waiting room for a break. If the student is still in the waiting room after a few minutes, they will be let back in. If the behavior continues, student will be given another verbal warning. After that they will be removed to the waiting room for the duration of class. In the unlikely even that this happens, please contact support@outschool.com. Racist, sexist, homophobic comments in a 1:1 class will result in the session ending, and safety being notified.
4) Outschool requires all learners to be enrolled; any other kids/teens present need to be off-screen, and not engage with the student or teacher.

A few notes:
- Please arrive 3 minutes early so that we can start class on time, and you can troubleshoot any tech issues before class.
- Per Outschool policy, if the student is not in the classroom at the 10 minute mark, I have to log off and end class. (If you're having tech issues trying to enter the classroom, just send a message or post in the classroom, so I know you are there!)
- If you cannot attend, please let me know ASAP. If you would d like a refund for an upcoming class you'll miss, please notify me at least 72 hours before class. If you'd like to schedule a make-up session (within the same week), please notify me at least 24 hours in advance. I cannot offer refunds or make-up classes for missed sessions outside of the situations noted above. If you experience an emergency and cannot provide adequate notice, please reach out as soon as you are able.
- Unless there is a safety issue, a 1:1 class video can be shared (upon request). If your student misses a 1:1, there is no recording.
- Per Outschool policy, social media apps will be referenced but not linked to. Learners are encouraged to use social media only with adult permission and supervision.
- Learners are encouraged to advocate for how they can best participate. If your learner needs adult assistance in the classroom (e.g. adult on screen, adult answering for child or facilitating answers, adult taking notes), please let me know in advance, as recommended in the Outschool parent guidance.
