Class Experience

Calling all comic book/movie lovers! Join me in the worlds of Gods and Superheroes as we talk about the similarities and differences
between both of these legends of mythology, comic books, and the movies. In this educational and engaging class, we will compare and contrast different sets of Greek Gods and their corresponding Superhero(s).

Using guided discussion along with a slideshow presentation, the students and teacher will talk about what makes these two groups of legendary people so similar.

Here is a brief outline of the class:
-We will start with talking about what the different Gods/Superheroes the students already know. This gives each student the opportunity to share their interests and expertise.

-Next we will compare and contrast the following Greek Gods and Superheroes (we will get through as many as we can with the time given) and we will have friendly debates over some of these combinations via breakout rooms:

- Poseidon/ Aqua-Man
- Hermes/ The Flash
- Hades/ Batman
- Ares / Captain America
- Zeus/ Superman and Thor
- Athena/ Wonder Woman
- Hera / Storm
- Apollo/ Green Arrow and Hawkeye
- Hephaestus/ Iron Man and Green Lantern
-Artemis / Huntress

-Sometime within this lesson to break it up a bit, we will do a trivia game (through Kahoot- it would be best if the learner is able to have two windows side by side for ease to see the question in our lesson window and another to answer the questions.)

-To conclude the class, we will get to talk about more Greek gods and a little about their legends. Students will then get to come up with a new Superhero and mixing it with one of the Greek Gods discussed and deciding what the powers and weaknesses of their new character would be. If time doesn’t allow them to share, they will be encouraged to upload a picture or write a story about their new Superhero after class as optional homework.
