This is a BEGINNER class for those just starting to learn multiplication or for those who need a motivating and engaging refresher. Students should be able to count up by 1s at the very least. In this class, students will learn how to represent multiplication sentences using equal groups. Students will learn math vocabulary words such as factor and product. Instructor will model a multiplication sentence equal groups set up with M&Ms candy to show the same number of candy in each group. For...
Students will demonstrate understanding of multiplication by using equal groups.
Students are encouraged to practice their math facts by showing equal grouping.
Students will need at least 72 pieces of candy such as M&Ms, Reese's pieces, Skittles, or cereal (such as Fruit Loops, Lucky Charm, etc). Students will need a tray or big paper/plastic plate.
Students will be informally assessed in class.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
