Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I'm Donna Foster. A few years ago I decided to retire after 33 years as a full time teacher. The bulk of my focus has been in grades 5-8, but during my 8 years as Talented and Gifted Program Coordinator for my school district I worked with small groups of students from Kindergarten to 8th grade.

I believe that every student is unique, and I love to see them light up when they have discovered something new. I want to instill a growth mindset in students; the only way we learn is by making mistakes. I also want students to ask their own questions and to increase their critical thinking skills. It is essential to me that each learner comes to the understanding that everything they are exposed to can be applied to other aspects of life.

Students have different strengths and it is my job to help them utilize those strengths while helping them feel safe to grow in more challenging areas. As a reading and writing teacher, I encourage students to think outside of the box, to be creative, and most of all, to have fun!

I am still in touch with many of my students from past years. If you ask them, they'll have some funny stories to tell about me. Most of all, they know that I care.
