Class Experience

We will be reading and discussing the book The Giver by Lois Lowry.
Each week,  I will read parts of the book and I will give prompts for students' responses in their journals.
 Students will make observations and explore thought provoking themes. There will be periodic quiz games and creative expression through art and creative writing.

Each week, students will read 3 chapters in the book. Our discussions will proceed from the reading. I will also read portions of the book aloud. 

Students will need a copy of the book that they can highlight/underline in.

Parental Guidance
This award-winning book is widely used in teaching middle school reading. The backdrop is a dystopian society in which rules are restrictive. Life and death choices are a part of the plot. Parents are encouraged to communicate any concerns.
