Class Experience

Speed cubing is a highly addictive and competitive "sport." With competitions happening monthly all over the world. Those who get really good can even earn money and sponsorships. While most of us will never gain worldwide fame from speed cubing, just getting to be apart of the community, can create a lot of friendships. It is fun to hone your skills, and to become better and better at solving the Rubik's Cube.

If you are considering taking this course, then you should already be able to solve the 3x3 cube using one of the beginner's methods. This course picks up where beginner's method leaves off. It takes you to the next level (intermediate) by teaching you F2L and 4 Look Last Layer.

With practice, the skills taught to you in this course should enable you to get your times down into the 20-30 second range. I will also point you in the right direction towards 2 Look Last Layer, which will allow you to drop your times even further. 2 Look Last Layer (CFOP) is the primary strategy used by most world renowned cubers. Everything you learn for 4 LLL will also be used when you later advance to 2 LLL. In other words 4 LLL is the next intermediate step between beginner's method and advanced 2 LLL method.

What we will learn in this course:

Second Meeting:

I have been solving the cube for years. I have old man / adult hands, so my times are not as fast as some, but I am efficient. My average solve is around 30 seconds. I solve using CFOP which is the most common method used by speed cubers. I am a teacher, and have taught many children and adults how to solve the cube. I have a lot of experience with pacing the instruction so that it makes sense and so that students get sufficient practice with each step as they progress towards becoming expert speed cubers.
