Building Social Club: Let's Talk, Build, Problem Solve and Show and Share

In this ongoing Building Social Club class learners are encouraged to use their big imaginations to build their favorite creations!  We will begin with a simple theme that I will share with the class. 

Little learners may bring their favorite toys to build with such as Crystal Climbers, Magna-Tiles, Legos, etc.

If learners would like to build their own creations, that will be encouraged.  Before the end of class we will have a show and share to talk about their builds.  This club is designed for students to meet new friends, learn new techniques from others, ask questions, talk about their ideas and share with their peers. 

Our class will follow the schedule below:

1. Welcome and Greetings. I will greet each student by name and students will greet their peers.

2. Learners will be given a set time to build. 

3. This is a social club, we will be talking, building and having fun hanging out, getting to know each other and laughing.  

4. If learners get frustrated when something doesn't turn out the way they visualized or it if something falls apart, I will help them take a deep breath and then we will use the time to talk, problem solve and come up with a solution. We will work as a team to help our friend(s) to continue to build. 

5. When our building time is up each student will have a turn to share their creation(s) and they will be encouraged to be respectful and listen to their peers during this time. 

6. Learners will be asked a few questions about what they created. Examples of these questions are; What did you build? How is it used? What colors did you use? After each learner shares, I will ask if anyone has questions or something positive to say. After each learner shares we will support them by giving them a round of applause or a "moving" thumbs up.  

7. We will leave class by making silly faces or what learners choose to do. This is the only time we can get loud...unless we find something to laugh about :)
