Class Experience

This is a hands-on, very interactive class. Students will be encouraged to share ideas and building techniques with each other. In class, I will foster an environment that supports creativity, problem solving, positivity, and a growth mindset. Each week, builders will travel to a new location. After learning a bit about the location, builders will begin to construct a model. Then, through the roll of the dice and flip of a brick, the adventure will unfold. Builders will use their building bricks to create solutions to overcome obstacles that they encounter on their journey. Throughout class, we will talk about different obstacles that we face in the location of the day. Students will brainstorm solutions for those obstacles and build the solution that they want to use out of their bricks. Students will share their creations with peers. Sometimes, we will all face the same obstacles. Sometimes, we will individually face different obstacles. After each class, I will post more inspiration about the day's adventure in the classroom so builders can extend their building adventure at home.

*NOTE: This class is a great companion class to: Who Was...What Was...Where Is...Book Club, a class in which discuss books in the Who HQ book series each week. The topics between that class and this week will coordinate for the summer! While it's not required that children take both classes, it's encouraged!

You can see the companion class here: https://outschool.com/classes/who-waswhat-waswhere-isbook-club-5bIy6oyK?usid=tyJ9riaH&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link

Here are the first few adventures planned for the summer:
June:
Savanna Adventure
Rainforest Adventure
Great Barrier Reef Adventure
Great Pyramids Escape Adventure
Space Adventure

Many more exciting adventures to come! If you're wondering what adventure is planned for a certain week, feel free to message me. Builders can join at any time. Classes do not build upon one another although it is great to see builders connect with each other week after week!

If your child has taken my building adventure classes before, there is a chance, they may see an adventure they have seen before during this ongoing class. There are so many ways to overcome obstacles on these adventures so this will be a fun chance for their creativity to run wild. I also always plan more challenges than we have time for in class to keep the adventures fresh for builders who may encounter an adventure more than once and to encourage building after class at home.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Families,
My name is Danielle Day. I have a passion for inspiring young learners! I have a degree in Elementary Education. I have taught in both homeschool and public elementary school settings over the the last 18 years. I have also taught ESL online. Aside from teaching, I have coached basketball and a Building Brick League Team. I think learning should be authentic, engaging, and fun! My husband and I have 3 sons. As a family, we enjoy playing games, reading, riding our bikes, building with building bricks, and exploring nature.

- If you do not see dates listed for a class, that does not mean that I'm no long teaching the class or that it isn't awesome. It just means that right now, I have more class ideas than available hours in the day. I try to balance opening a variety of classes and leaving myself some time to be able to accommodate requested classes. Please never hesitate to send me a message requesting that I open more sessions of a class!

I hope to meet your learner(s) in class soon!
Have a great day,
Mrs. Day
