What's included

4 live meetings
3 in-class hours

Optional: There will be additional videos posted to the classroom page for students to dive deeper on class subjects.

Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
This camp introduces students to the foundations of planetary science. We will explore how planets are formed and evolve over time, their physical properties, and interactions with other celestial bodies.

We will meet four times in one week.

During the course, each student will create their own fictional planet based on what they learn, covering properties such as mass, orbit, structure, atmosphere, climate, surface features, and the presence of rings and moons. They will get to present their planet to their classmates during the final meeting.

This is a highly interactive course. Students will learn through an image and video filled presentation and discussion. Students’ participation and questions are regularly encouraged.

This course is perfect for the young space enthusiast who wants to deepen and expand their knowledge of Space. However, no previous knowledge in the subject is required.

Classes are designed to encourage student engagement and follow their curiosity.

Class One: Introduction
- Gravity
- Formation
- Star system

Class Two: Planetary Properties

Class Four: Presentations and Review

There are no prerequisites for this class. While we will discuss some of the mathematics used in planetology, learners will not need to use math in this course, unless they would like to for “extra credit”.

Hello! My name is Arwen, and I am absolutely passionate about space science, the environment, and teaching! I offer courses about the solar system, planets, natural processes, soil, and the environment. I am a NASA Solar System Ambassador and science author. My Master's is in Space Science, and I have undergraduate degrees in Agricultural Ecology, and Natural Resource Management. I am currently working on a doctorate in STEM education.

I believe curiosity and learning are human instincts. I try to honor that by asking the learners lots of questions and encouraging them to think about information in new ways.

When not teaching, you can find me hosting "Found in Space: A Science Podcast for Kids and Teens" or playing Dungeons and Dragons and exploring the Southwest with my three homeschooled kiddos and our big, fluffy orange cat named Moose!

I like to keep class sizes small so each learner can get individualized and full attention. Please feel free to reach out.
