This weekly club gives you the chance to build the Brick Snap Circuits kit together with other friends. What is great about it is that it combines the intrigue of Snap Circuits with the creativity of the interlocking bricks (trademarked name) that every child loves. What I absolutely love about the club using this kit is that it forces us to think three-dimensionally. It is so often underestimated how much of our school work is on a flat page. No wonder it is hard to visualize three-dimensional shapes, designs, molecules, structures or anatomy at later education levels. This kit really makes us exercise our mental visualization skills along with instant feedback from our creation. So in all, it makes for a thrilling mental fitness session. Each club follows a similar schedule and progression: 1. Greeting 2. Guided building project using the demonstration camera (to view both the circuit board and faces in Zoom) 3. Free invention time 4. Show and tell of our amazing inventions This club offers the following learning outcomes: - STEM circuit components - Diagnose and troubleshoot situations as a team (i.e. circuits doesn't work until we all give feedback to get it working) - Expression and demonstration abilities - Fun hands-on building and creating Calendar Week of Jan 23, 2022: Light post project Week of Jan 30, 2022: Directional lights project Week of Feb 6: Cross of lights arch Week of Feb 13: Electrified brick tower

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Parents!
I hope to guide children like yours to a world of exploration. Let's face it. They are already curious and exploring. They just need an expert guide to help them place their ideas and questions in a learning context.
I am a research scientist by profession and training, and I have worked with youth in five countries (Canada, US, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, and Brazil) from seven different first language households (English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Maya Q'eqchi', Maya Mopan, and Yoremnokki).
Topics I focus on include STEM, inventing classes, and social-emotional awareness classes.
My best teachers and professors incorporated lessons of self-discovery, and I offer that same joy of learning to your children. When children share their curiosity with other interested children they gain a great sense of self-esteem. Additionally, show-and-tell of a treasured toy or a creative invention helps build up confidence as well as make for really fun class sessions!
See you in class,
Dr. Drew
Here is a bit more information about me below.
Education and experience:
Ph.D. University of California Riverside - Plant Biology with a concentration in Ethnobotany. This means I explored how families use plants, I held botany workshops in schools, and I did field and laboratory work on the biology of these plants.
M.S. Loma Linda University - Biomedical Sciences with a focus on physiology. This means that I had the fortune to research how arteries develop in the brain, use a proton beam for experiments in the NASA Lab, and learn how to write scientific articles.
B.S. Walla Walla University - Biochemistry with a focus on onion and garlic chemistry. This means that I stunk up my mother's house with the distillation of onion scents to explore the wonderful world of sulfur chemistry.
U.C. Davis Entrepreneurship Academy - Week-long course on entrepreneurship.
École des Entrepreneurs du Québec - Year-long course on entrepreneurship.
