Are you ready to unlock the mysteries of the human brain? Join me in a dynamic and engaging nine-week online course designed for high school students curious about the inner workings of the nervous system. This course will take you on a journey through the fundamental concepts of neuroscience, from the structure and function of neurons to the complexities of brain behavior and cognition.

What Will Be Taught?

In this course, you'll study the fascinating world of neuroscience, exploring how the brain processes information, controls behavior, and shapes our experiences. We will cover the history and importance of neuroscience, the anatomy of the nervous system, neuron function, neurotransmission, brain regions, sensory and motor systems, learning and memory, emotions and behavior, and the future of neuroscience in society.

Topics We Will Cover:

Introduction to Neuroscience
The Nervous System: Central and Peripheral
Neurons and Glial Cells
Neurotransmission
Brain Regions and Functions
Sensory and Motor Systems
Learning and Memory
Emotions and Behavior
Neuroscience in Society

Class Structure:

Our course is structured to provide a balanced mix of theory and practical application. Each week, you'll engage with a combination of video lectures, interactive activities, readings, and assessments to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the material. The course culminates in a final project where you can showcase your newfound knowledge.
