In this six-week course, students will start their preparation for the upcoming regular high school biology course by familiarizing themselves with its structure and reviewing key concepts.

The classes will be conducted through Zoom, providing students with opportunities to interact with the instructor and their peers. Active participation is encouraged, and students are requested to keep their cameras on during the sessions. This course will not cover the entire high school biology course, but will still review relevant information for high school biology course.

To facilitate learning, I have prepared note sheets corresponding to the curriculum, which will be available before each week's initial class. During the sessions, I will use a document camera to guide students through filling in their notes. At the end of each week, a note key will be provided. Furthermore, all lessons will be recorded and promptly shared on the classroom page for students to review.

This course is suitable for students who are considering taking high school Biology and do not need to possess a solid science background. Prior knowledge in biology is beneficial but not mandatory. Although no additional homework will be assigned, students can enhance their learning experience by dedicating time outside of class to the subject matter.

Learning Goals

Understand Cell Structure and Function: Students will learn the basic structures of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, and how each structure contributes to the cell's functions.
Explore Genetics and Inheritance: Students will learn the principles of genetics, including Mendelian inheritance, DNA structure, and how traits are passed from one generation to the next.
