What's included
Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 3
This is an English Reading Book Club for students who are developing their love of reading, writing, thinking and sharing their ideas. This class is aimed at beginner readers to broaden their vocabulary, improve recognition of words, develop phonics and handwriting too. Learners will develop their reading fluency, comprehension skills including knowledge of phonics, vocabulary, guessing meaning of words from context, sharing ideas and developing communication skills. This class will not meet face-to-face. Each week will consist of a variety of tasks. Learners will work collaboratively to improve their writing skills and knowledge. One of the benefits of this flex class can be that learners can take as much time as they want to review materials and the recordings. With reading and writing, I think this can be beneficial. Which books will be covered? 🔹 Week 1 - Search for the Lightning Dragon 🔹 Week 2 - Roar of the Thunder Dragon 🔹 Week 3 - Chill of the Ice Dragon 🔹 Week 4 - Waking the Rainbow Dragon 🔹 Week 5 - Shine of the Silver Dragon 🔹 Week 6 - Treasure of the Gold Dragon Each week will include vocabulary, comprehension and input. Learners will be encouraged to share their ideas in a variety of ways in class. There will be interactive activities connected with each book each week. A flex course allows learners to cover material during a time that is convenient for them each week. Students are encouraged to check in with the teacher weekly via the Outschool classroom, which will allow for more engagement between the teacher and learner. After weekly lessons, students can collaborate with their peers by replying to the announcements and lesson postings in the Outschool classroom. Participation will include the Introduction post, discussion posts, assignments, and projects in the Classroom. This allows students to process what they are learning by collaborating with peers and the teacher. Participation in assignments allows students to practise and reinforce learning. This also provides opportunities for the teacher to gauge student learning and provide interventions if necessary. Private messages or classroom comments are usually responded to within 24 hours with the exception of Mondays and Tuesdays. This course is taught by Teacher Kara. The videos will be available for the length of the course. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with further questions. Please do contact us with any questions. We look forward to being part of your learning journey!
