Class Experience

Students will learn how engage with a book and begin to explore the themes and characters that make up a story. They will also learn how to decode what a page might be about by looking at the pictures. Students will be exposed to a book club format that will make reading come alive for them for years to come.
About me:
- I LOVE reading and writing and I love to help students develop a love for reading and writing, too.
- I have found in my classroom experience that creative teaching methods help to draw a student in to the excitement of reading and writing and can change their whole perspective! I have had students come to me and tell me that they used to hate reading or writing, but that my class changed everything for them. That's exciting!
- I have created tried and true materials that I have used in the classroom with great success.

Reading and writing is an adventure and I am excited to have your student on the adventure with me!
Students will read (or be read to) the book, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs. They will fill out a sheet that will allow them to connect more deeply with the book.
- Students should have a copy of the book, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs - Students should have a printer to print out role sheets and craft template - Students should have a brown paper bag (lunch bag size), crayons or markers, and glue/glue stick for the final craft
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will need a copy of the book, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by A. Wolf, written by Jon Scieszka.

About Me

Writing is boring! I don't like to read! Do you have students who think like this? Through my experience teaching in both private and public schools, I have found creative and interactive ways to bring reading and writing alive for students.
