Class Experience
In this ongoing class, your student will be whisked though time with a brother and sister duo, Jack and Annie. The adventures abound as they explore the dinosaur era, an afternoon on the Amazon, and even mummies in Egypt! Come along and explore with Jack and Annie. You never know what you might learn! ** My teaching style is organized and full of fun while being relaxed and friendly at the same time. This class is taught in English.
*The student will work on developing and sustaining foundational language skills: listening, speaking, discussion, and thinking; oral language. *The student will work on developing comprehension skills by reading assigned texts, making predictions, making personal connections, and generate questions before, during and after reading. *The student will use text evidence to support an appropriate response. *The student will develop an understanding of the importance of the setting. *The student will be able to describe and understand plot elements, including main events, the conflict, and the resolution.
I am an experienced elementary teacher and reading specialist. Reading is my passion and I love inspiring reading in the younger child!
Prior to each meeting of the ‘Magic Tree House’ book club, the students will read a book assigned to them for that week.
*Magic Tree House series books 1-20. Books will be added as we move along in the book club.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents, I have chosen a book series that will get the students excited to read and discuss and are appropriate for this age group. Please research each book on your own so you are comfortable with the content. As the parent or guardian, it is your role to make sure that the books are appropriate for your child as each child is different.
Magic Tree House Series by Mary Pope Osborne * All books can be found at the following businesses: Amazon, Ebay, Barnes & Noble, Kindle or Target. I ordered off of Amazon.. You can also check with your local library.
