Blast Off! Exploring Outer Space and Our Solar System: PreK Learning With Ms. Liz
Class experience
US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
In this one-time class we will read stories like "Solar System", by Jill McDonald and "Life on Mars" by Jon Agee, practice the names and locations of our planets in the solar system and look at pictures to learn about life as an astronaut. Little learners can build great listening, observation and creative thinking skills during storytime, asking questions and using their imagination. In fact, did you know that reading aloud to kids has clear cognitive benefits? For example, brain scans show...
Students will listen to stories and ask and answer questions throughout the readings, practice taking turns talking, listening and sharing predictions and observations about the books we read. We will work our fine motor skills and memory as we plot the locations of each planet in our solar system (with the included printable) and we will practice letter, number or shape recognition activities too.
1 file available upon enrollmentPlease print out the 2 page solar system printable and cut out the individual planets before class. We will plot our planets on the solar system page together during class and learn a song that will help us remember the names and order of the planets. ** It's not mandatory that your learner participate in the activity. If they prefer to observe and complete the project after class, that's OK too!
Because of the age of the class I recommend a grown up be within "ear-shot" to help with any technical hiccups (mic and video) that might come up. If your learner is working on scissor skills, an adult can help with the planet cutting.
