Class Experience

Each class will begin with the "Brain Dance," a series of movements we will do together in order to wake up our bodies and brains. After that we'll do a typical ballet warmup at the barre, including pliés and tendus. At the center of the room we'll work on balance and basic movements. This class will included one-on-one feedback as well as opportunity for students to watch their peers. The end of every class will include a discussion with vocabulary. Learners should have some basic knowledge of dance movements, but this is in no way a requirement.

The class content will be dictated by the students of the class each week. As this is a rolling class, students are able to attend when and if they have time. We will take five minutes at the start of each class to assess the level of students experience in the class before we begin. This will allow each student to get the most out of the class as they can!

Please be advised that this class is physically active and that students require an open space, socks or ballet flats, and a water bottle.
Learning Goals
1. Vocabulary - Ballet classes introduce your dancer to a world of new words!
2. Flexibility - Butterfly stretches increase hip and inner-thigh flexibility. Dancers will sit on the floor, bending their knees slightly and holding the soles of the feet together.
3. Strength - The best strength-building exercises for kids in ballet class combine playful imagination with fitness activities
4. Discipline - A dance instructor is a great ally to have on your team while teaching your dancer lessons about discipline and self-control
5. Self-Confidence - Dance classes can build up confidence through positive reinforcement. An experienced dance instructor will create many opportunities to increase your dancer’s self-confidence while learning ballet.
6. Creativity - Ballet is often considered to be art for athletes. Your kid will grow stronger and more flexible through toddler dance classes, but they will also grow more creative.
