Beginner's Reading Class

If your child has already learned their basic letter sounds and is beginning to blend letter sounds together,  this class is sure to be a perfect fit! In this ongoing class, your child will build on their phonics knowledge, and practice blending these sounds together to create words. Your child will solidify their knowledge of letter sounds, learn special rules for one vowel and two vowel words, work with word families, and learn the special sounds that letters can make in pairs.  If your child is just beginning to learn letter sounds, my Phonics Fun Class would be a better fit. This class is best for learners who can already identify letters and know their basic sounds. Below is a schedule of themes for each week. Since this is an ongoing class, the schedule will repeat and all topics will be covered again.



Week of 9/5: Short vowels 
Week of 9/12: Long vowels    
Week of 9/19: Magic E  
Week of 9/26:  Vowel Rules 
Week of 10/3:  Special Sounds Ch, Sh
Week of 10/10: Special Sounds Th, Wh 
Week of 10/17: Special sounds Bl, Cl, Gl 
Week of 10/24 : Special sounds Fl, Sl, Pl
Week of 10/31: Gr, Pr, Tr  
Week of 11/7: Sm, Sw 

At the end of the schedule, the lessons start again from the beginning. I will be up dating the schedule each week to reflect the them of the current week.
