Beginner Level
In this class, students will learn the very basics of: playing piano/keyboard, reading music, listening skills, creating music, and sharing with their classmates. The class is very interactive, so students will be learning by experiencing in every class. They will have ample opportunities to ask questions and interact with me. My teaching style is loving, encouraging, and student centered. I make sure students understand and demonstrate what they’re learning.

Supply List
Students should have regular access to either a keyboard or a piano in good working condition by the third class. Keyboards should have regular sized keys. I strongly recommend that keyboards be plugged in, rather than relying on batteries. Pedals will not be used in this class. A sturdy bench or chair with no arms is necessary. Please have the device your learner is using adequately charged and placed so that I have a clear view of the piano/keyboard and the student’s hands. That way I can best help everyone. A parent or parent approved adult should be present (off camera, as per Outschool policies) if a student needs support with any aspect of class, such as learning, technology, staying on task, or any other need. Please make sure the zoom settings are working properly at the beginning of each class. A quiet environment is very helpful for this class. Anything that can be done to help learners listen and focus on the class will be very helpful to them and to me. If you have any questions or need recommendations for a keyboard or piano, please let me know and I’ll be happy to make suggestions. We will use one book: Music for Little Mozart Lesson Book 1 (Approx. $15 plus tax on Amazon - the book is orange and yellow)
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
