Welcome to writing for kids! In this course students (approximately five (5) to seven (7) years of age) will practice their sight words by playing interactive games like Roll and Read, Beat the Clock, and Word Jumbles. Students will also apply their knowledge of sight words by creating their own sentences and story pages. Students will be in classes of no more than six (6) students total. During this class students will develop a variety of skills both in reading and writing. We will practice reading sight words, and we will practice writing letters by stretching words and concentrating on the sounds of each letter within a word.
Students will be asked to complete one sight word sentence for homework.
1 file available upon enrollmentFor this session student will need a few blank sheets of printer paper. If available, students are also welcomed to use early writing paper that is wide ruled.
Students are assessed informally during class when participating in warm up activities. Student progress will also be monitored based on their writing and presentation skills.
