A Quizlet assessment of how much each student learned will be performed at the end of the class.Class Experience
What will be taught? As there are 46 hiragana in this phonetic writing system, students will be supplied with a chart which will be accessible upon enrollment. The class will not go over all of them, as the chart has alphabet for the beginner learners to follow, but I will be providing the students with learning tools which they will be able to access during the class and after using Quizlet or Quizziz. The class will provide students with language learning tricks and recommend trusted online resources for their future learning. What topics will you cover? Japanese writing systems, hiragana reading, how to read hiragana with the help of alphabet. How is your class structured? The class will be mainly on zoom, but Quizlet will be used for checking student understanding toward the end. How will you teach? I will teach the class through Zoom, sharing power point slides with GIF animation. Quizlet will be used toward the last half of the class to check for student understanding. What's your teaching style? I believe students, especially younger ones, learn better and retain more information when they are having fun. I like to teach students while making the learning process fun for them, as well as for myself. How much will learners get to interact with you and each other (mention specifics like: lecture, games, slides, video clips, discussion)? Students will get to share their motivation for learning Japanese with the class and myself in the beginning in either speaking to the class, or in the discussion. Students will get to play a Quizlet game based on what they learned in class toward the end. Any required experience or knowledge learners need? Use of Zoom platform and Quizlet will be helpful.

Other Details
Supply List
A computer or a laptop, or a tablet for the main part of the class. A second device would be nice to have for playing a Quizlet Live game, but if you set the screen up so that one window is dedicated for zoom, and the other window for Quizlet, it would be fine.

***I've had parents asked for my teaching certificate in the past for various reasons, you can find my teaching certificate from "certificate lookup" from Texas Education Agency. Use my full name, Sachiko Fukushige to find my certificate. Hopefully this helps with families using FSA, ESA, Microgrant, and ClassWallet.

即使您的孩子对英语不太熟悉, 别担心! 我能用普通话和英语教课, 所以放心跟我学日语吧! 我在美国公立高中教了9年的日语, 所以我对教日语很有信心。希望您的孩子和我一起学习日语时会学得开心。
Many years of freelance tutoring experience for Japanese and Mandarin have helped me teaching all levels of Japanese including Pre-AP and AP classes at my former employment of 9 years at a public high school. While I appreciate having a structured learning environment at a school setting, I miss the free-style teaching that suits the needs of each student. Desires to learn come strongest when one is genuinely interested in something, and rarely do those desires come from wanting to learn from a textbook . I hope you will have fun and enjoy my classes.

If you are interested in having your learners learn Japanese using a textbook and a workbook, please let me know! I have a few private section of classes using textbooks. Each student are required to have their own copy of the textbook and the workbook for these classes.
For those who seeking for a study group to study for JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) , send me message! I would love to host study sessions/classes for those who are studying for the test. Studying for JLPT can be fun with others :)

I graduated with degrees in art and film. I also studied architecture for my graduate degree, after I worked at an architecture firm for nearly two years.
As part of my art and film degree, I am trained in typography, graphic design, presentation design and film production which come in handy when I create my class materials for my students.
My tutoring experience started while attending my graduate program in architecture. I began tutoring college level Japanese to help students succeed in their studies. Through my help these students were able to ace Japanese course placement tests. Since then I have tutored from middle school to high school students for AP Japanese exam, JLPT exams for N5, N4, N3, and N2. For adults, I have had the honor of help writing speeches, translating articles for thesis, and tutoring in business Japanese as well as preparing for JLPT exams.
