1 live meeting
50 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
I will discuss elements, atoms, and molecules as they relate to the Periodic Table of Elements. This class is designed for students who haven't taken a chemistry course but find themselves curious about chemistry and the periodic table. I will talk about the difference between atoms and elements as well as the difference between atoms and molecules. We will look specifically at some "fun" elements on the periodic table and look at their properties as well as how/if they occur in nature. I will use visuals and ask questions about what students already know about certain common elements. I will discuss electrons and give a brief introduction to how they come together to form chemical bonds or ionic compounds.
Learning Goals
The main learning goal is that students will have a good understanding of elements, atoms, and molecules, and how they naturally occur in the world.
