This is a fun, engaging ASL class where students who have a good foundation of ASL can learn some of ASL Number stories, ABC stories and classic Deaf Stories. Students will watch, practice and perform a total of 8 stories duing the class. Class will be limited to 6 students to insure each student gets ample amount of practice time and performance time. New students may be referred to another ASL Summer Camp to learn more ASL skills before enrolling in this class. Students who have completed Beginner class I and II with this teacher will be qualified to take this class. During the first class time each week, students will watch a video of a specific ASL story and then the teacher will break the story down and teach the class how to sign it. Time will be given to practice during the class. In the second class time of each week, students will be given the opportunity to perform the story of the week. Because the success of this class depends on participation and perofmance, it is required that students leave their camera open at all times. Exceptions will only be made in emergency situations.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Bachelor's Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University/ Ohio
I have been a teacher of the Deaf in self-contained class and mainstreamed class. I have also been an interpreter for over 30 years in a variety of settings. I love teaching ASL to students and helping them to understand Deaf culture in order for them to gain an appreciation and inclusive attitude toward all people.
