Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
This is class is designed as an individualized class for students who need extra encouragement in their reading or math. This class will be tailored to meet the student where they are currently functioning and give them extra help in developing their skills. Students will be assessed in the first lesson to see where their greatest needs are. Teacher and parent will discuss progress at the end of each group of 8 lessons to decide if goals are being met and discuss with them whether of not they wish to continue for another 8 lessons. The reading class will incorporate phonics skills, vocabulary development, reading fluency, comprehension and writing skills totally based on the needs of each student. The math class will incorporate number sense, computation, algebraic readiness, measurement and word problems based on the needs of the individual student. The teacher will communicate with the parents often and offer suggestions for activities that they can do at home to support what their child is doing in each tutoring session. Tutoring sessions will be engaging and interactive. Parents can choose to have their child meet with teacher up to 4 times a week. Pricing will be variable depending on the number of days your students attends per week, but price averages at $20/ every 30 min session or $30/45 min session. Reading stories will be projected on screen for students, but they will also be available for parent to print from k5learning.com. Due to copywrite laws, I cannot send PDF files of stories, but parents can go to the site and get their own copies. Since each student will be on different levels and stories, the teacher will give instructions concerning how to access them during our initial class meeting. Math worksheets and activities will also be available for extra practice between 1-1 classes.

Learning Goals

Goals will be individually discussed with each parent, based on the needs of their learner.
