In this five week Self Paced course, learners will hon through a variety of topics to expand their American Sign Language vocabulary! Each week will begin with a posted themed video for the week (7-20 minutes long) and will printouts to go along with each weekly lesson. Before the week is out a link will be provided for a weekly challenge quiz that will be played through Kahoot! Through the link you have many options to practice before taking the quiz! The themes will be as follows: Week 1: Maps, Compass and Continents Students will be able to follow along with their own map while we learn the signs for each of the seven continents. Week 2: Follow along the ASL Alphabet and learn signs for each letter of the alphabet. Practice the signs for the the letter that your name starts with and post a video that shows the signs mentioned for your letter! Week 3: Let’s take a visit to the farm. Learning the signs for many farm animals and the signs for the song old Macdonald had a farm. They can share their artwork with the class and another challenge. Week 4: Royalty week! Let’s learn the signs for everything to do with being royal. King, Queen, Castle, knight, etc. Multiple choices for project choice and they can describe their art with the signs they learned. Week 5: Share our pets week! We will learn the signs for many different pets! Share our artwork and a video of us showing or describing our pet or a pet we would like to have! This is a beginner course so students are not expected to have signing knowledge. Although it would be beneficial to start with a course where you can practice your numbers and letters in ASL.

I have an associates of arts degree and a certificate in American Sign Language. My kids have enjoyed taking classes on Outschool and I hope to provide the same type of fun enjoyable classes for others! I love cooking, baking, organizing, and taking pictures of my kids!
