Let's have fun painting and learning about the elements of art! Learners will consider contemporary and historic examples in painting. Then, through demonstration, they will learn about painting technique. After a discussion and demonstration, students will brainstorm and research ideas for their painting. Concepts of pattern, rhythm, and movement will be emphasized. Ms. Amy will take you though some step by step painting, color mixing, application and compositional demos. Learners will have most of the class to create an inspired work of their own.

Students will improve on their understanding of painting, painting technique and representing and communicating ideas verbally and visually.

Parental Guidance
This class is meant for an older audience and some controversial subjects may arise in the classroom. Such topics will be handled with diplomacy and inclusivity.
Supply List
-A set of Tempera or Acrylic paint. You should have at LEAST primary colors and white, having a cool version of each color is optimal. Ex: a sky blue vs an ultramarine blue. -A set of quality brushes small medium or large -Something to paint on that is at least 16" x 20" (gessoed canvas, board, heavyweight paper) -pencils -erasers -rag -two water bowls - sketch paper - paper plate or large flat surface for mixing paint- piece of cardboard, plexi glass etc. - good lighting

In addition to being a world traveled artist and educator, Amy Pollman has a MFA and MED in Art Education. She is a certified Visual Arts Teacher K-12 from the Ohio Department of Education. Currently she is a University Mentor of Art Education at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio and also is an Instructor of Art at Monroe County Community College in Monroe, MI. She recently returned from China where she was teaching Art as a method of language development. For the past twenty years, she has taught students all over the world from Kindergarten to College. She is knowledgeable, resourceful, passionate about art making.
