Informal observation of drawings.Class Experience
Is your learner interested in travel drawng? This class is a basic beginner level weekly drawing class. Students will be inspired by a different drawing each week inspired by a different destination to keep them creating weekly. I will demonstrate step by step, from basic shapes to details. The techniques and skills I aim to cover may include but are not limited to: perspective, values, hatching, cross hatching, stippling, and implied texture. We will look at relationships for scale and proportion, and also for contrast, as we practice different techniques. Each class, I will demonstrate, step by step, how to draw and add dimension using different types of line weight. Your learner will get a great sense of space, shape, composition, balance, contrast, and perspective. Instruction on techniques will vary from week to week. There will not be a separate lesson on skills and techniques. The instruction on techniques will be incorporated into the step by step lesson of a specific drawing. I try and wait for everyone before moving on to the next step in a drawing. However, I do have to keep moving so other students do not lose interest in the drawing. Students are welcome ask questions and seek feedback throughout class. Although each demonstration will be finished by the end of class, students may want to continue working on their drawing after class. Everyone works at a different speed, and it's better to take our time than to rush! At the end of class students will be encouraged to share pictures of their finished drawing so that I can evaluate their work and provide any suggestions. Students will also be given an opportunity to provide supportive feedback to their classmates. As always, sharing is encouraged but not required. It is my belief that with practice, students will learn how to gradually improve their skills. There are no shortcuts in drawing. It takes practice, patience, flexibility and persistence. This will be a positive, supportive and uplifting environment for young artists. *If time allows the teacher may provide an extension activity such as a slide show or a story related to art or the destination. The only prior skill required is the ability to follow detailed visual and verbal directions. I hope to see your learner in one of my classes soon! *If this class interests your learner please sign up. I will take the slot and teach even if it is only one learner. Upcoming projects: Dec. 11-Dec. 17-Canada Dec. 18-Dec. 24-Antigua Dec. 25-Dec. 31-Australia Jan. 1-7-Zimbabwe
Learning Goals
~Students will explore the elements of art through step by step projects.
~Students will gain exposure to art techniques and vocabulary.
~Students will show their creativity by adding unique details to their artworks.
~This class is for budding artists who know that art isn't about making an exact replica of the teacher's art piece.
~Due to the variety of skill sets in the class, I try to pace the class to meet all students' needs, but this isn't always possible.
