In this 5 week self paced class we will learn about 5 different artists (Warhol, Van Gogh, Picasso, Kandinsky, Dine) and create art pieces that are inspired by their work. We will talk about their genre of art, create pieces to be proud of, and learn about the artists through a brief biography of the artist, and discussions about the artists. This is a Self Paced class, meaning NO LIVE CLASSES, you sign up and then watch the videos as your schedule allows, participate in the classroom, ask any question you want, and share your work as you complete each project. The lessons will post on the classroom page. There will be step by step video instruction for the projects as well as additional information. I'll check into class to see how the learner is doing. Students will upload an image or video clip of their art work directly to the classroom. I'll check into class to see finished projects from students (that they have uploaded to class), and give simple feedback. This is of course optional if there is a student that really doesn't feel comfortable doing so, however it is also highly encouraged with this type of participation. I do also give my own engaging words of support, encouragement and praise to each individual student who shares their art in our classroom. In addition to this schedule learners can post pictures and/or videos of their work (and their works in progress) on the classroom page at any time so that the teacher can give feedback and encouragement on their pieces. It will be uplifting and helpful to the students and receiving feedback will be fun! Here are the highlights for each lesson: Lesson 1 - Warhol - We will discuss Warhol’s interesting life as an artist. We will talk about his colorful ice cream art piece, and then students will create their own Pop Art masterpiece using crayon and watercolor. We will talk about color, composition, creativity, and also the proper use of materials and clean up. The students will be able to create their piece based this beautiful piece, but in their own style and with their own personality and creativity. They will post pictures of their work on the classroom page so that I can give feedback and encouragement to each learner. Lesson 2 - Van Gogh - We will discuss his various works and his interesting life (age appropriate of course). We will talk about his colorful and rich work and his style and how it differed from other artists at the time. The students will create a drawing based on his piece called Sunflowers. Students will also have a chance to engage in some discussion about his work. Lesson 3 - Kandinsky - We will have fun exploring the artist Kandinsky. We will be looking at his Abstract Expressionist art pieces. We will re-create one of his art pieces called Yellow, Red, Blue using crayon and watercolor and students will have fun adding their own creativity to their piece. Learners are encouraged to engage in discussions that are Abstract Expressionist themed as well as discussion based interaction about their art pieces. Lesson 4 - Picasso - During this week we will look at the artist Picasso. We will look at his life and how he created his Cubism pieces. We will talk about his various paintings and we will re-create his Cubism inspired piece called Portrait of a Woman using watercolor and crayon. Learners are encouraged to participate in some discussions related to the artist during the week. Lesson 5 - Dine - In this final week we will learn about modern art and Jim Dine. We will create a piece of art in this style of this master using a heart theme. Learners are encouraged to discuss the artist and the art this week with the teacher. The pre-recorded lessons will be step by step allowing time for each learner to create their art piece and be proud of what they create. In addition there will be room for creativity and learners may add unique details to their art pieces. The only prior skill required is the ability to follow detailed visual and verbal directions. I hope to see your learner in my self paced class soon!
